Seemingly lost in last week's news about the City of Atlanta eliminating 222 jobs: its impact on the Atlanta Jazz Festival.
What's more troubling: the festival's precarious footing, or the fact that it hasn't raised so much as a peep from the media? (That includes me.)
UPDATE: I'm told that officials are pursuing other avenues of funding. It's possible that the Atlanta Jazz Festival will happen in 2009, just without city funding.
Special thanks to occasional SP contributor Jon Ross for bringing this to my attention, via his cool Atlanta jazz blog Jazzlanta.
(Wow, two links to outside content in one post! This must be that "aggregation" all the hipster kids are talking about.)
